dear mr. chipotle

last night i sent an email to "mr. chipotle:"

dear mr. chipotle,

a little over 4 years ago, my taste buds were TRANSFORMED the second Chipotle's chicken taco landed on my tongue. ask anyone who knows me, i've not been the same since. before moving from indiana to florida to be near my sister, my VERY FIRST inquiry to help with the decision process was "where is the nearest Chipotle?" what can i say? i know where my priorities lie.

in florida, my nearest Chipotle is a half hour away and while the food and experience that Chipotle offers is TOTALLY worth the drive, i'd be able to eat a whole lot MORE Chipotle if i didn't have to spend so much money on gas. PLUS, i'd be able to introduce MORE closet fanatics to the delicious flavors that i have come to love so much.

since you've already stated that my backyard is out of the question, though i'd duel to the death any neighbor who would DREAM of complaining, i suggest the following two locations: here OR here.

both locations are near a hospital, offices, residential communities, a community college, and other unsuspecting restaurants who need a healthy dose of competition.

your (presumed) biggest fan,
stephanie watson

i will notify you as SOON as i get a response back. =)

i've been robbed

once you've tasted of chipotle, the morning after is the longest you'll have to wait in order to know just how strongly your body will react to such delicious foods. it's no mystery. even south park has taken notice. but if you feel as strongly about chipotle's menu as i do, those effects are inconsequential and not even worth a second thought. after a few trips to the place that has single handedly ripped your PRIOR favorite restaurant from it's cozy #1 spot, you start to realize that an immunity can be had and you REJOICE by treating yourself to yet another delicious burrito.

case in point: i've been robbed. i've been eating chipotle for over 4 blissful years now and have built up quite the resistance to it's spicy flavors. i've been to chipotle ONLY three times this week and every time i've been burned. the first time i thought it was a fluke. but THREE times? not a chance. someone has stolen my immunity and i want it BACK!

never too young for chipotle

dear mr. chipotle,

i think i found my youngest best friend today. i took my three month old niece to chipotle and she LOVED it. well... she didn't exactly say those words but i knew how she felt. (whispering: i have unagi.) unfortunately, she wasn't able to eat or drink anything while there (pause for a moment of silence) BUT! once those teefers of hers start growing in, it'll be the FIRST thing she gets to eat.

love,

foil LICKER

as seen on my chipotle cup...

"you can JUDGE ME if you want to, but I DON'T CARE. the little bit of SALSA and CHEESE and SOUR CREAM HANGING OUT in the bottom of my burrito foil after i'm done eating is MINE. ITS ALL MINE! digging down into those foil crevices is my tongue's favorite part of the day. even better is that every time i eat a chipotle burrito, the little SURPRISE at the bottom if my foil is DIFFERENT. i mean, sometimes its CARNITAS, the most awesome pork ever, and sometimes its CHICKEN or STEAK... SO FINE! i guess you can go ahead and call me a "FOIL LICKER". but that foil holds that ONE LAST delicious bite that i couldn't EVER think of throwing away. its like my BURRITO FLAVOR SAVINGS ACCOUNT--but its in a bank that won't ever need a BAILOUT."

HOW'D THEY KNOW THAT ABOUT ME!?

the curse of the chipotle undies

who wants to go with me to have some chipotle?!!! =D

eh, what's a few extra peppers?

i went to a pampered chef party where thee bestest homemade salsa was served. so bestest in fact that i went out the very next day and bought all the ingredients to make it myself.

i made it with:
4 roma tomatoes
1/2 green pepper
1/2 red pepper
1/2 orange pepper
2 habaneros
1 jalepeño
1/2 white onion
1 lime (squeezed)
a bit of fresh garlic
and a few snips of cilantro

chop. chop. chop.
stir. stir. stir.
and voila! homemade salsa!

i like things hot and spicy--hence my love for chipotle's delicious salsa filled burrito bowls--so i thought i'd add a few extra jalepeños and habaneros. merely to enhance that bit-o-bark i experienced the night before. i could handle it, right? WRONG-O. the extra peppers (with seeds) made it TOO hot and TOO spicy! i'd eat a bit, then chug down some sweet tea. eat a bit more and then chug down more tea. the more i ate, the better my tongue felt, until i stopped. so... i had no choice but to eat more! i eventually was too full to eat any more and the only way i could cool my tongue was to suck on chunks of ice! and pant. like a dog. which didn't really help at all but i did it anyway.

i hate to admit this but once my tongue cooled down, madness took over and i went at it again. i have since "altered" the recipe to the one you see above and now? oh my gosh. it is soo delish. you should try it. i promise, it won't be as ridiculous as my "first" recipe. =) unless you think you are better than me, which you are not, so don't bother asking for it.

update 07/26/09: it's in the wee hours of the morning and i'm on the toilet because of the salsa. i guess it's better than at 11am, right when the sunday morning service STARTS! because then, EVERYone would know how long i was "gone".

one down

this past monday, my co-workers and i spent over $60 at chipotle.com. it was SO much fun! i rounded up as many co-workers as i could who hadn’t tried the food there yet and placed a monster of an order online. what can i say. i get a teeny tiny thrill out of making newly obsessed fans of the oh-so-fabulous food. =)

here is a review from one of the newbies:

“did i like my chipotle meal? YES!
was it spicy and filling and delicious? YES!
does it leave little green goodies in your teeth? YES!
does chipotle give you gas? YES!
would i eat there again? YES!
now that i am no longer a chipotle virgin, i will probably become a chipotle ho! thanks for a new addiction, i needed one..!”

maybe now they won't have to lay off the second shift after i leave... hahaha.

MYchipotle.com

today, while ordering my über delicious lunch online, i found a link to MYchipotle.com. of course i was intrigued, so i clicked the link and found this:

"at chipotle, we've got the best customers around. period. (thank you. thank you. [bowing]) and that isn't just because they come into our restaurants all the time. (what can i say. i'm a regular.) we really mean it. and we think it's high time that we start using these wonderful, quirky and passionate folks (hey! that's me!) in our advertising. we already know they've got great taste in food. we think they'll have great taste in ads too. and they better, because we don’t have a backup plan."
you can write it, film it, shoot it. they want you to make a video or record a message telling them about your favorite chipotle meal and why it's so special. you can send them something written, an audio clip, or a video clip. and if you need some music to go along with your creation they have some royalty-free music for you to use. it's sweet!

i'm thinking of doing that and making one of my own. =)
HOLLER!

chipotle and Jesus

hello, (waving) my name is stephanie and i’m addicted to chipotle. i think it's super delicious.

i would eat it every day if my body would allow it (even though it's TOTALLY worth the aftermath). instead, i eat there about once a week. why not. i'm young. =)

i checked out their website and it turns out that it's more than just super delicious food. it's healthy too! always a plus. =) while there, i stumbled upon the story and found this quote by chipotle's creator steve: "sometimes, moving forward means taking a few steps back. "

i've taken some much needed steps back and you know what? i'm ready to move forward with what's next in my life. it took me a while to get to this point but nevertheless, i'm ready.
